Can I buy the USB Expert System?
The USB Expert System is only available to members of the Refrigerated Transport
Information Society. Join and your USB Expert System comes with membership. If you are
already a member, you can order additional single user or network versions at £10.00 per
copy.
What kind of computer and software
do I need to run the USB Expert System?
The USB Expert System is designed to run on a PC under Windows 7 or higher. The USB
Expert System makes use of the Microsoft Office Professional suite of programs plus Adobe
Acrobat and Internet Explorer. If you do not have these programs installed, we have supplied
"runtime" a version of MS Access. This will enable you to use the USB Expert System
without purchasing any software.
The Access 2007 run time files allow the RTIS USB Expert System to be used on computers
without a full installation of Access.
How do I set up the network version?
Setup should be run on each client PC. The USB Expert System should then be placed in
the USB Expert System drive of the network server. It is not always necessary to run setup
on the network server. Depending on the operating system on the server, it may be
necessary to install Microsoft Access or the runtime version, available free on request
from CRT. Finally, each PC should map the server's USB drive as R:\.
Can I suggest additions?
Of course! A large amount of our yearly development of the USB Expert System is in
response to requests and suggestions from RTIS members. Please email them to us.
Why does the USB Expert System
expire?
The USB Expert System is an ongoing development project. This means there is a
continual process of enlargement and improvement. Anyone who has taken on such a project
will understand why they do not particularly want older copies floating around.
Furthermore, the USB Expert System is intended to provide a "front end" to the
whole RTIS membership scheme which is renewable yearly. Bear in mind that whilst the USB
Expert System provides answers to many questions, it also enables members to do some
research themselves and come to us with the most pertinent questions.
It installed correctly but
it still won't run.
Usually a computer has more than one USB drive. The USB Expert System usually runs in the
lowest USB Expert System drive letter that your operating recognises. It is usually
better, after installation, simply to try the RTIS USB Expert System in different drives. Run the file "RTIS Expert System-NET-Office 32.accde" or "RTIS Expert System-NET-Office 64.accde" depending on whether you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office. If in doubt, try both!
